Say it isn’t so
Hello my friend, are you there?
I can barely hear you now, are you even near?
Well, time is passing faster
and you will soon be gone.
And there are things I need to say to you
That must be said at once
But the line is getting worse and
blur is all I hear
Do you read what I’m saying or
Is it true those things I fear?
Did you really leave me?
Are you really gone?
Do you really want to hate me?
Can’t you see that this is wrong?
Well, friends will stay and others won’t
Some will need time when others don’t
Though I was hoping to find you and bring you back
and then help you realize where my mind’s at
But I can see that I am now too late
and that it’s no use for me to wait
‘Cos it is gone and
so are you
though I really hoped
for the bond to be true.
