When I am Dead

I’ve lived alone for so many years,
fighting my way out through the tears,
my heart is empty and broken inside,
finding myself lost with nowhere to hide,
but it’s hard to be a winner on a losers track,
two steps forward and three steps back.
Well, death is a fear one cannot hide,
like the lapping waves of the turning tide,
and so my friend if there’s no time for goodbye,
then today is the day and I am ready to die.
And if you should miss me and if I leave a space,
remember the pain written upon my face,
because no love could have loved you the way that I did,
and my love won’t harm you when I am dead.
