Through the night
When tears are running it’s hard to see
The world in its beauty, the way it should be
I look at the people with the smiling faces
Their happiness hurts, ‘cause it’s far from my places
The places where I’m caught forever through time
How I wish their happiness was mine
I’m waiting for you at the Dam monument
But somehow I know that you won’t come
I don’t know where you are, where you went
But I know that I should move on
Shaking from crying I whisper your name
But the air is silent, it’s always the same
I’m trying to reach you through the night
Like a moth that’s always searching for the light
Desperate searching, afraid to be alone
But I crashed on your thick wall and broke every bone
If I knew then what I know now
It would be different but yet somehow
Your name has burned a great big hole
I can’t ever fill it in my tortured soul
I am making my way through Nieuwendijk
Happy people are all over the place
On the surface they’ll never see that I’ll break
I’m keeping the smile straight on my face
Another thing that they will never see;
Even though you’re an idiot you mean everything to me
Everyone was right
I have lost this fight
I’m trying to reach you through the night
Like a moth that’s always searching for the light
But the light in your eyes was nothing but a fake
Now I’m counting the minutes ‘til the day I’ll break
I’m so tired of losing
For once I want to win
So tired of being lonely
Alone in the City of Sin…
